Medical Hotel

A lodging property equipped with facilities for accommodation, dining, exercise, or recreation, with cooking utensils in each guestroom, for the use of foreign medical tourists.
Enforcement Decree of Tourism Promotion Act, Article 2 Paragraph 1 Item 2 G
① Cooking facilities be installed individually by room or commonly shared by floor, for the use of medical tourists.
② There will be at leat 20 rooms equipped with bathrooms or shower facilities.
③ The net area per room will be at least 19 square meters.
④ Facilities for business under Articles 9, 13, 22, 23, and 26 of the Educational Environment Protection Act shall not be installed as auxiliary facilities.
⑤ It will have a convenient system for medical tourists to enter and exit.
⑥ There will be a system that can provide services to foreigners, such as hiring foreign language speaking staffs.
⑦ Medical Hotel facilities (referring to facilities excluding medical services facilities if a medical services facility pursuant to Article 3 Item 1 of the Medical Service Act is installed) shall be separated from medical services facilities. In this case, guidelines for separation shall be determined and announced by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
⑧ The ownership or right to use of land and buildings will be secured.
⑨ The person who intends to register a Medical Hotel business will be the founder or host of a medical services facility for foreign patients.

TimeshareA lodging property equipped with facilities for accommodation, cooking, exercise, entertainment, recreation, performance or training, for the use of members, co-owners and other tourists.
Tourism Promotion Act, Article 3 Item 2 B
A. Guestroom
① There will be at least 30 rooms in the same complex. However, if an application for registration is filed from July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2018, pursuant to Article 3 Item 1, there will be at least 20 rooms.
② Each room will be equipped with facilities of accommodation and cooking, while such requirements will be exempt up to 30% of the total rooms (in urban areas under Article 6 Item 1 of the National Land Planning and Utilization Act, the exepmtion percentage shall be pursuant to the relevant local ordinance), if cooking facilities are installed outside the room.
B. Canteen
There will be a canteen or a convenience store, while it can be shared if the complex is composed of several buildings.
C. Culturural and Sports Space
At least one of performance, exhibition, art gallery, museum, swimming pool, tennis court, soccer court, basketball court, and other cultural and sports space will be installed, for the use of tourists, while it may be shared if a complex is composed of several buildings. In addition, such requirements will be exempt if the complex is located within a designated tourism complex, a designated tourism destination or a reort destination.
D. The ownership or right to use the land and building shall be secured, while the ownership must be secured in order to recruit members.

General
Accommodation

Motel

In the past, the Public Health Act subdivided lodging businesses into Tourist Hotels, General Hotels, Timeshares, Motels(A), Motels(B), Farm Motels, and Inns. However, all of them were combined to 'Lodging Business' upon replacement of the Public Health Act with the Public Health Control Act on 1999-09-09. Furthermore, upon enactment of 'Residence Accommodation' on 2012-01-10, Motels(A), Motels(B), Farm Motels, and Inns were separately categorized as 'General Accommodation', while Tourist Hotels, General Hotels and Timeshares were categorized as 'Tourist Accommodation', pursuant to the Tourism Promotion Act.A. Guestroom
① There will be at least 10 rooms (7 rooms for Farm Motels or Motels in rural areas).
② It will be equipped with the following facilities:
i) The net area per room will be at leat 6 square meters (10 square meters for Farm Motels).
ii) Door locks and window locks must be installed.
iii) For Farm Motels, cooking utensils, sinks, and refrigerators will be provided in each room, and a cooking room equipped with water supply, providing hot and cold water, and ventilation shall be installed.
iv) When installing a bathroom in a room, it shall provide hot and cold water, and a flush toilet.
B. Other Facilities
① A reception desk will be installed.
② The following facilities will be installed for a shared kitchen:
i) It should be separated from other spaces by walls or boards.
ii) Insect repellent facilities shall be installed at the entrance and windows in contact with the outside.
iii) Drainages shall be installed, and sewage tanks should be installed outside.
iv) Facilities to remove fumes, steam and odors shall be installed.
③ The following facilities shall be installed for a bathroom in the room:
i) Common bathrooms or shower facilities shall be separated for men and women.
ii) Flush toilets, separated for men and women, shall be installed on each floor. However, non-flush toliets, separed for men and women, can be installed away from the accommodation building, if there is the water supply and sewage facilities are not installed in the building.
iii) Washrooms shall be installed on each floor.
④ Natural lighting and ventilation system shall be installed in accordance with the Building Codes.
⑤ Lighting, moisture-proofing, insect repellent and drainage facilities shall be installed.

Inn

A. Guestroom
① Each room will accommodate up to 10 people, while the number of rooms accommodating up to 2 people shall not exceed 40% of total accommodation capacity.
② There can be family rooms for family accompanying youth, while the number of guests in family rooms shall not exceed 30% of total accommodation capacity.
B. Counversation and Information Room
It shall be installed to be used for providing information about travel and culture, and for meeting.
C. Self Cooking Space
There will be one set of cooking equipments per every 50 people, while the number of sets can be topped out at 5.
D. Resting Lounge
There will be at least 1 resting lounge.
E. Supervisor Room
There will be at least 1 supervisor room.
F. Heating System
A heating system shall be installed.
G. Emergency Equipment
① Emergency lightings or equipments shall be installed.
② An emergency water supply system shall be installed.
H. Other Facilities
A broadcasting system and a supply closet shall be installed.
I. Accommodation Capacity
It refers to an optimal number of people to be accommodated in each room.

Training CenterA comprehensive training facility equipped with facilities of accommodation and training, for the use of youth.
Youth Activity Promotion Act, Article 10 Item 1 B
A. Guestroom
① The capacity will be able to accommodate at least 100 people.
② Each room will accommodate up to 10 people.
B. Dining Room
At least 30% of total accommodation capacity will be able to dine at the same time.
C. Indoor Assembly
At least 50% of total accommodation capacity will be able to gather.
D. Outdoor Assembly
At least 60% of total accommodation capacity will be able to gather.
E. Sports Space
There will be an indoor gym of at least 100 square meters or an outdoor sports field of at least 1,500 square meters.
F. Training Forest
There will be a training forest of at least 1,000 square meters.
G. Classroom
There will be at least 1 classroom.
H. Specialty Training Facility
There will be at least 1 speacialty training facility.
I. Supervisor Room
There will be at least 1 supervisor room.
J. Resting Lounge
There will be at least 1 resting lounge.
K. Emergency Equipment
① Emergency lightings or equipments shall be installed.
② An emergency water supply system shall be installed.
L. Other Facilities

CampsiteA site providing space for installing camping equipments, for the use of camping tourists.
Enforcement Decree of Tourism Promotion Act, Article 2 Paragraph 1 Item 3 C
① It will be located in a safe place without risk of flooding, loss, isolation, landslides, or rockfall.
② Placement of facilities, how to use them, and instructions for action in case of an emergency shall be posted in a place where users can find easily.
③ Facilities or equipment to notify the user of an emergency shall be equipped.
④ Secure fire extinguishers appropriately and place them in an easy-to-see place, considering the size of the campsite.
⑤ Secure shelters and evacuation routes inside or outside the campsite in case of an emergency.
⑥ Personnel knowing how to take actions in case of an emergency shall be present during the opening of the campsite.
⑦ Campground facilities shall be installed with minimizing changes in the shape and quality of the land, so that the original form of the natural ecosystem can be preserved as much as possible. In this case, the types of campsite facilities that can be installed in the campsite shall be prescribed by the Tourism Promotion Enforcement Regulation.
⑧ The total floor area of buildings installed in a campsite (referring to a building pursuant to Article 2 Item 1 B of the Building Act) shall be less than 10% of the total area of the campsite. However, school buildings under Article 2 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, which are closed and not in operation, are exempt.
⑨ Nevertheless, if a campsite is installed in a conservation management district under Article 36 Item 1 B of the National Land Planning and Utilization Act, or in a conservation green-belt district under Article 30 Item 4 D of the Enforcement Decree of National Land Planning and Utilization Act, all of the following requirements shall be satisfied. However, if the campsite uses a closed school property (only if there is no increase in the site area of existing closed school property, no new or extension of the road to the entrance of the campsite i) and ii) below shall not apply:
i) The total area of the campsite is less than 10,000 square meters.
ii) The total floor area of the buildings installed in the campsite will be less than 300 square meters, and less than 10% of the total campsite area.
iii) A campsite located in a drainage area under Article 15 Item 1 of the Sewerage Act shall introduce sewage from the drainage area into the public sewer when the use of public sewerage is initiated pursuant to Article 27 of the same, except cases falling under Article 28 of the Sewerage Act.
iv) It shall minimize the impact on the natural environment and landscape by creating a landscaped green area along the boundary of the campsite.
v) It shall avoid damages such as collapse of slopes or soil leakage caused by campsites.

① Folk Village
There are at least 20 buildings (thatched houses and tile houses) unique to Korea, and each building will be equipped with traditional living appliances or 50 scale models of traditional buildings that can introduce Korean or foreign cultures will be placed in appropriate places.
② Public Beach
i) There will be beaches with suitable conditions for swimming.
ii) There will be shower and changing facilities suitable for the capacity.
iii) It will be equipped with life-saving boats, monitoring towers, and facilities for emergency treatment.
iv) It should have a freshwater beach.
v) A lifeguard will be present.
③ Botanical Garden
i) There will be facilities in accordance with Appendix 2 of the Enforcement Decree the Museum and Art Gallery Support Act.
ii) The greenhouse area will be at least 2,000 square meters.
iii) There will be more than 1,000 kinds of plants.
④ Aquarium
i) There will be facilities in accordance with Appendix 2 of the Enforcement Decree the Museum and Art Gallery Support Act.
ii) The total floor area will be at least 2,000 square meters.
iii) Fish species (excluding those that are not fish) will be more than 100.
⑤ Oncheon Jang
i) There will be public bath facilities using hot spring water.
ii) There will be 2 or more types of recreational facilities out of tennis court, table tennis court, bowling lane, archery court, mini golf course, badminton court, roller skating court, and boat court, or amusement facilities under Article 2 Item 5.
⑥ Recreation Forest
There will be a natural recreation forest or a healing forest under the Forestry Culture and Recreation Act, or arboretum facilities under the Act on the Creation and Furtherance of Arboretums and Gardens.

Urban MinbakA residential property in urban areas, including single-family house, multi-unit house, townhouse and condominium, providing accommodation, for the use of foreign tourists, so that they can experience Korean home culture.

① The total floor area of the house will be less than 230 square meters.

Hanok StayA Hanok, a traditional Korean residential property, equipped with facilities of accommodation and traditional cultural experiences such as traditional games and crafts, for the use of tourists.

① It will be a Hanok that meets the standards set and announced by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport pursuant to Article 27 of the Act on Value Enhancement of Hanok and Other Architectural Assets. However, this is not applicable to Hanoks designated and registered as cultural heritages pursuant to the Cultural Heritage Protection Act, and Hanoks registered as excellent architectural assets pursuant to Article 10 of the Act on the Act on Value Enhancement of Hanok and Other Architectural Assets.
② The total floor area of the space used for accommodation experience, such as rooms and convenience facilities, will be less than 230 square meters. However, this is not the case for hanok falling under any of the following.
i) Hanok designated and registered as a cultural heritage pursuant to the Cultural Heritage Protection Act.
ii) Hanok registered as an excellent architectural asset pursuant to Article 10 of the Act on Value Enhancement of Hanok and Other Architectural Assets.
iii) Hanok prescribed by local ordinances of special autonomous cities, cities, counties, and districts such as hanok and old houses in Hanok Village.
③ In the case of providing an accommodation experience, convenience facilities such as bathrooms and shower facilities shall be equipped so that users do not experience inconvenience.
④ 1 or more fire extinguishers shall be installed, and a single alarm type detector and a carbon monoxide alarm (only applicable when heating facilities are installed individually) shall be installed in each room.
⑤ Where cooking facilities are installed, they shall be installed and managed in accordance with the standards prescribed by the Urban Gas Business Act, the Safety Control and Business of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Act, the Act on the Fire Prevention and Installation, Maintenance, and Safety Control of of Firefighting, and other relevant regulations.
⑥ It will be equipped with facilities capable of supplying tap water (referring to water supplied from water supply facilities under Article 3 Item 5 of the Water Supply and Waterworks Installation Act and small-scale water supply facilities under Item 14 of the same Article) or drinking water quality standards under Article 5 Item 3 of the Drinking Water Management Act.
⑦ It will have a system that can disinfect rooms, reception tables, lobby facilities, corridors, stairs, bathrooms, shower facilities and toilet facilities at least once a month.
⑧ Clean rooms adn bathrooms from time to time, and have conditions for washing bedding regularly.
⑨ It will be equipped with facilities of ventilation. However, this is not applicable if there is a window and a natural ventilation is available.
⑩ The raw water of the bathroom shall meet the water quality standards of the bath water pursuant to Article 4 Item 2 of the Public Health Control Act.
⑪ A manager who can manage Hanok will be present during business hours.
⑫ In the case of providing an accommodation experience, a rate table shall be posted on the reception desk or website, and the posted rate shall be observed.
